Short description:

For something so simple and so beneficial, it can be surprisingly difficult to actually sit and meditate.

 

By coming together and committing to meditate for 30 days we can help each other to establish a healthy habit of meditation. Just 8 minutes per day is enough to make a difference. Supported by daily guided meditation audios and a free, on the ground, weekly meditation gathering.

Goal / impact

Many of us recognise the benefits of meditation, and the basics of the practice are very simple, but even then, it can still be surprisingly difficult to actually do it.

 

Why is it so hard? We don’t need any special equipment or clothes and it’s possible to meditate just about anywhere. We don’t need to sit for hours to experience the benefits, either. Leading neuroscientist and researcher Richard Davidson has found that 8 minutes of meditation can be enough to make a difference. But we do need to keep doing it over time if we really want to see the benefits in our life.

 

Many leading meditation teachers advise that a great way to establish a regular habit of meditation is to practice for a short time each day and to set yourself a target of keeping this up for a period of time. It’s also a really helpful when you know other people are doing this too.

Other comments

Each week there'll be the opportunity to meditate together at the new meditation centre, HOME, in the beautiful Westergasfabriek villa. Starting on 1st August, from 18:30 - 19:15 the meditations will be led by experienced meditation teachers with time for questions and to check-in with how it's going.

 

In addition, to support you along the way, we'll have a daily 10 minute audio guided meditation. So, even if you’ve never meditated before, you can just press play and we’ll lead you through the practice. But you don’t have to use the audios. Just commit to meditating for at least 8 mins every day.
